Drama-Free

"College is a whole new world compared to high school. What I wish I knew was how different your social life can be in college versus high school. In high school, you see the same people every day for four straight years; there is bound to be some drama and conflicts. The thought having 300+ people in your classes, which only last a semester, sounded great to me. While I loved the idea of not getting stuck with the same people and their drama, it was scary to imagine trying to find friends in a school of 50,000+ people.

I think that joining an organization is the best way to make friends. When I chose to join an organization, specifically a spirit org, I was simply trying to find a group of nice and friendly people who were mostly drama-free. To me that meant: stay away from the all girls groups because in my experience, girls were the ones to start the drama. I tried the co-ed groups, but I never felt like I belonged. I found a Texas Royals flyer towards the end of recruitment season, and I just thought “why not.” I went to the meet and greet and found an amazing group of women. Everyone was so polite, intelligent, and they all made me feel like I found my home. The rest of recruitment was honestly one of the most fun things I have done. I got to know a lot of really awesome women. I have been in Texas Royals since Spring of 2017, and I have yet to have any conflict with these mature and considerate people. Turns out, there are actually some super smart, fun, and mature people in the world!"
