Along with being a great leader and even greater man, Coach Royal led the Longhorns to three national championships in 1963, 1969 and 1970. He was head coach of the football team from 1957 to 1976 and had one of the most successful records in history.

In 1996, the Longhorn football stadium was renamed Darrell K Royal Texas Memorial Stadium in his honor. Coach Royal had been suffering from Alzheimer's disease and passed away November 7, 2012. Texas Royals was founded to honor him and to keep his spirit alive at The University of Texas.

Texas Royals is proud to work with and support the Darrell K Royal Research Fund for Alzheimer's Disease. Read more about our involvement here.
